At Primary school, her music teacher was the sister of James Nesbitt. Attended DH Christie Memorial Primary School and Coleraine High School. Became involved with local music and drama groups from an early age and received private singing lessons from vocal coach, Peter Wilson, who describes her as "one of the most promising students [whom I] have ever worked with". Jayne took a degree course at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow. In 2005 she joined children's charity Music Theatre 4 Youth, which acts as a step ladder for young people interested in the stage.
