She`s a fully-qualified Scuba diver. Although she was born in London, her family moved to Berkshire when she was just nine months old, and she grew up in an old Victorian farmhouse next to a working farm. When she appeared as the subject of an episode of the BBC TV series Who Do You Think You Are?, she discovered that, during the Second World War, her paternal grandfather had been a distinguished test pilot, while her maternal grandfather had been involved in the "Great Escape" from Stalag Luft III. Although she`s had a piercing in the upper cartilage of her left ear since her teens, she didn`t get her earlobes pierced until the day after her 40th birthday.
