Was the lead singer in the band "Fenrik Lane" until 2005. Despite driving a car in the music video for his hit song "She`s So High" he, as of January 2004, dosen`t have a driver`s licence in real life. After winning World Idol he flew home to the seaside city of Bergen (Norway). There he was greeted at the airport by thousands of hysterical fans, a marching band, the city`s major and other assorted dignitaries. Later the same day he was congratulated via phone by Norway`s Prime Minister. Has two sisters called Trine and Sigrid. He plays many musical instruments including guitar, drums, violin and flute.

Pete Waterman, the British judge, said: "You gave us superb performance." The dreaded Simon Cowell said: "If this competition was on radio rather than on TV you`d walk it. We`ve allowed a lot of ugly people to become recording artists. Under normal circumstances you`d never get a recording contract." But then he added: "You have an astronishingly good voice. I think you could be the dark horse to win this!"

On January 17th 2004 he and his finacu00e9e suffered a minor neck injuries when a car they were sitting in was involved in a chain collision in Sandviken, Norway.

His first single "She`s so high" went straight to no. 1 in Norway and stayed there for 9 weeks.
