At Judgment Day (May 20, 2007) in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match beat the late Chris Benoit, and became the new United States Champion holding it ever since. In October of 2007 Burke was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome—a rare condition that causes the heart to beat faster than usual. The diagnosis and treatment were worked in to WWE storylines. Burke has acquired numerous tattoos through his life, including; a portrait of Malcolm X on his upper left chest, the sarcophagus of King Tut on his left upper biceps, the legend "Monte Cristo" along with the phrase "The best revenge is living well" in script on his right forearm—both references to the book The Count of Monte Cristo and an Eye of Horus on the back of his left arm.
