She says she went more the musical route than did her older brother, Matt Newton, who became established in acting just before she did. While she was studying at Guilford High School, she was working in dramatic productions. She was named as one of TV Guide`s Sexiest Females of 2009. In 2008, Becki wrote and sang "Gene Simmons is My Daddy" as part of the episode soundtrack of "A Thousand Words By Friday" on Ugly Betty.
