Graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada with a Bachlors degree in Landscape Architecture (BLA). During his five year program he played for the university soccer team, Guelph Gryphons, as a striker. He graduated with top honors, recieving the Canadian Society of Landscape Architecture Silver Medal award. He spent the forth year of his program studying in Australia. Attended David Rothenberg's on-camera acting class in Toronto with fellow actors Scott Speedman, Rachel McAdams, Polly Shannon, and David Sutcliffe. Has an older brother, Sean David Mitchell, who is a teacher and a chef. Attended Kilcoo Camp in Minden, Ontario - 4 years as a camper and 8 years as a counsellor.
